Finally got my order delivered today (and the a-hole was going to just leave $400 worth of stuff on the porch).

I was really surprised by how physically small the e609 is, that thing's just tiny! I was also surprised by how hefty that Furman is... DMP3 looks as I expected...

I'm stoked!

No time to play tonight, I put my toys away, and am on Teen Titan duty with my son.

Well, since I'm starting this thread I may as well ask my stupid question; The only mic I've used on guitar cab is a 57. Do the same rules of thumb for placement apply to the e609?

I know... I know... I'll have to experiement, but since I can't play with them physically right now, I figured I'd try to take the edge off of my yearning by posting here! :D

Don't flame me too hard, this is my GAS methodone treatment :D

UPS?!? Where!?!

Hey, Dweller--don't know anything bout the e609(sorry), but your post drew me in. I love it when the ups man comes backing in beeping in that big brown truck!!! I know it's the music that matters most, but getting that new piece o gear is sometimes almost as fun as the rest of the proccess!! Congratts on the new stuff!!

Yes, basement man, the same rules apply, except I think you'll find the E609 is a lot less picky about placement than a 57. Just slick it on the grill, slightly off axis, and go. You'll find that mic clip tighter than Scrooge McDuck, though. The big difference is liable to be that DMP-3, though. It's got *plenty* of gain. Enjoy your new toys.-Richie

Nothing like the candy man and the potential of some new gear experiences. Have fun.

Your lucky it was UPS, they always leave it by your door. The FedEx guys always walk halfway down my driveway and drop it. So I'll have an expensive package sitting in the middle of my driveway for half a day, thanks FedEx!

Congrats man! I loves getting the new stuff. I just got my Firebox and my Soundcraft Compact 10 mixer last week. I was foaming at the mouth while I tracked my shippments on the FedEx website. :)

Yeah dude, new toys rule.
Good ole UPS plopped my $900 Josephson C42's on my front step for half a day. Oh well, it was Friday and I needed them for the weekend.....

I realized I react to the sound of the UPS truck coming up the street like I was an animal in a science experiment. Ears perked when I hear the truck... go to the window.. no, nothing... scurry outside by the garage door... nothing... No, wait... I didn't order anything. You know how it is.

Doesn't that suck? I do the same thing. I keep listening for the sound of brakes squeeking.

i ordered a used 609 from a musicgoround, and went through GREAT PAINS to make sure that they shipped it to me at work. you see, i have a border collie who lives outdoors on our couple acres, and shipping it to the house would have been a bad idea. they called me back to confirm that they could and would ship it to me at work. excellent.

days pass, no mic arrives at work. i go to band practice and the wife calls me....says "you did something really dumb and you're going to be pissed off". apparently the Man in Brown brought my doggie a treat in the form of an e609 in a box and left it on the porch.

suffice it to say, the box was shredded, the pouch the mic was in was in pieces, and there's a nice doggie-tooth indentation on the silver side of the grille in the upper-lefthand corner. max seemed a lot more interested in the box and pouch, though, than the mic. the mic functions perfectly, which i think is a testament to how solidly these things are built.

anyway......i'd just drape the mic over the front of the amp and lay it on the grillcloth, right over where you want it on the speaker. :D

cheers,
wade

Ahh...I too am waiting for the man in brown to appear at my door, bearing a great and wonderful gift. Guitar #8 of my collection, an Epiphone Les Paul with BurstBucker pickups, better wiring...good stuff. Until recently, it was the property of Hard2Hear, but it is now on its way to my loving arms!

Geez...I can't believe I just wrote that......ugh....

I've been lucky with UPS and FedEx.

Not so with US Mail. Lived for a few years in a rural area that had really bad delivery. Things like having a shipment of mine delivered to the wrong house, left at the foot of their driveway in the rain for a couple of days. I had to make sure anything I bought wasn't shipped US Mail. Neighbors would so frequently drive over to give each other misdelivered letters and packages that it created a kind of social network. Postmaster was no help. So when I have an occasional issue with UPS, it doesn't seem bad.

i just want to note that it technically wasn't the fault of UPS. it was the fault of the jackass at the musicgoround who despite calling me back and confirming my work address, went ahead and shipped it to my house.

makes me think twice about doing business with them again, which is a shame b/c i've gotten some great gear from those guys.

cheers,

 Well when I got home last night my $1700.00 order was just sitting on my porch. Thank you FedEx.

Is that crazy or what?

I've had the same experience several times and complained to UPS. Their stock answer is that unless the shipper tells them to get a customer signature, they are just going to plop it on my porch.

Personally, I want UPS to leave packages on my porch when I'm not home... but I live in a good neighborhood.

cellardweller... way kool, on the new stuff bro. :)

I'm lucky enough to live on a hidden road which means it's pretty safe to leave stuff on my doorstep. But no, they won't, will they?

I only say because GAS struck me into buying a compressor off ebay over the weekend and I want to use it a couple of times at least before selling it on to put money towards a new car. ;)

I forgot to put the "s" after e609. So is it the e609s which is doggy proof?

Pier Calacino - May i ask what you ordered for $1700? I don't even want to start teasing myself with thoughts of what I'd buy with $1700, were my wife to let me...

Thanks DJL. I guess one good thing came out of me being sick, I was there to IMMEDIATELY grab my package, like a kid on Christmas... :D

:D

I purchased a new D8B when they were released. When the trucking company showed up at my studio they actually wanted me to take delivery of the D8b with 2 forktruck prong holes going all the way thru the box.

Wires and parts were hanging and the delivery guy said I had no choice but to take it. Yah right.

I showed him the front door and called Mackie and I had another one there the next day and it worked fine.
