Ive been using pro-audio 9 for a while now, and I recently got myself a copy of Sonar...I did the upgrade, and tried to record with it...but everything is really soft...Im doing it the same way I did it in Pro-Audio 9, but it doesnt have any volume to it...

Thanks in advance for the help.

Yo, projectelroy...

I think you need to explain your problem clear...

Your OS..
PC spec..
Soundcard..
How did you setup your gear..
How do you explain "soft"...
etc...
etc...

We'll help you know SONAR better if you help us know yours better...

Sorry bout that...

I have Windows XP, Athlon 900mhz processor, 768 Megs of Ram, 40 Gig HD, and the Sound Blaster Live! Value, and of course SONAR 2.0.

I plugged my Washburn acoustic/electric guitar straight into my soundcard.

What I mean by soft is almost no sound...silent...not loud...a faint sound...I cant think of any more words to describe it. The meters on Sonar seem to be registering me playing...but on playback it is very faint. I did the same thing on PA 9.0, and it was normal...Im not sure if there is any certian setup I need to do or not...

Sorry...and thanks for the help.

What do you have you sound card recording perferences set to?

Do the following:

1. Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control

2. Click on Options -> Properties

3. Select Recording

4. Check the bottom of the input to make it the source (ie where you plugged your guitar into)

5. Turn up the volume on that track... that's ur input 'fader'

6. Remember ACKUS - All Cool Kids Use SONAR

7. Let us know how you go

thanks, but thats the first thing I did when I found the sound was soft. So thats not the problem...

When I record in PA9...it's the way I want it. But Sonar is still not very loud. There has to be something you do in Sonar to make it Normal...

Any there other suggestions?

How does it sound if you record vocals through the same input? If you are recording using a Live Drive, have you got the volume turned up on the actualy Live Drive? Or, If you aren't using a Live Drive, how are you recording the guitar?

What do the wav forms look like?

Have you tried turning up your playback volume of your sound cards 'Volume Control' and 'wave'? Have you tried normalising your tracks to see if that makes it any louder?

Projectelroy,

Is your Washburn plugged into the Line In rather than the Mic input?

Not sure if I know what a live drive is...the Washburn has a preamp on it...there is no microphone involved. It is plugged into the Line in, and not the Mic input...do you suggest switching it?

The wave forms appear to be normal...so I dont know what the deal is...

Maybe it is something with volume control...Ill check again...and I havent tried normalizing the tracks...Ill check that out.

Thanks for the suggestions
