Hi All!

Well it's that time of year - I need to upgrade my interface to expand my studio until I win the lottery and buy a perfect PC and massive mixing desk.

I've narrowed it down to 2 choices;

- Tascam US16x09
- M-Audio M-Track Eight

Essentially what I'm after is the ability to portably record a live drum kit. Either one of these is portable enough and has 8 inputs. I can find the Tascam about £50 cheaper, so that's a bonus there, but I do prefer the look the of M-Track, it just seems neater and a slightly better unit.

Has anyone had any experience with these interfaces? Or would you recommend anything else for less than £300?

I'm struggling to decide, so hopefully you guys can help push me to the right choice!

Thanks all!

I use the 1800, which is very much like the US16X09. I mainly use it as a part of my mobile kit. One person I know on the board had an issue with the 1800, but I think it was a bad unit. I used all 16 inputs since I was micing amplified instruments and didn't need any pre-amps for gain. Nice little unit, not the best, but it has served me well for my purpose.

Let us know what you ultimately decide. I'd like to know your take on the Tascam if you do end up with that!
