A capacitor on my motherboard blew last week and I'm using it as an excuse to upgrade my getting older machine.

I'm wondering if processor power is more or less important than RAM? Right now I'm looking at a 2.5 gig processor and only 256 megs of RAM. Should I go higher or do you guys think this will be powerful enough?

Thanks in advance...

512mb is pretty much the minimum for audio anymore - 1024 would be even better.

Yeah 256 is the bare minimum to just run windows and things like office or word, at least start out with 512 and get another 512 later, things will just run smoother.

you may as well go 3200 or at least 2700, 2100 is almost dead like pc133, as far as bus speeds go anyway...

caps are easly replaced, eh, good second system?

RAM is cheap, go 512 megs.

As for CPU, 2.5 gig is plenty fast enough for ANYTHING, except maybe Half-Life 2 when it comes out :D
