Does anybody know if upgrading the software on the KORG D16 hard disk multitracker will erase songs already recorded on the unit? I need to do the upgrade, but I also have a couple works-in-progress I don't want to lose.

too risky?

I have a D16, I'm now on version 3.01. I'm assuming that you have a CD writer to do the upload, if you have then you can back the songs up first.

If my memory serves me correctley you don't loose any data but it's always a good idea to back up just in case; or maybe you are not up to the version where you can back up data yet if which case you've no option but to go ahead and do it.

Thanks for the tip. I'm actually using a ZIP drive for the upgrade. Do you know if the KORG's SCSI interface will work with a SCSI card inside a computer? I have a SCSI hard drive and the controller card has a port on the backside of the computer. I'd like to export tracks as waves directly onto that hard drive. But it seems like this might not be possible.

I'll give you the biggest tip for using your Korg D16.

Join the KORG D16 user group but following the link beloew then you can search teh archives that will have the answers to all you questions (or if not well then you ask):

There's a thread ongoing at the moment about the WAV possibiliites.

Enjoy.
