Hi,
I'm a newbye here so please forgive me if I put some banal question...
I play acoustic guitar for myself and like to record something.
My actual gears are:
- iMac with Leopard 10.5.8 OSX, Logic Pro
- M-Audio Mobile pre USB
- RODE NT3 (supercardioid small diaphragm condenser mic)
- RODE NT2A (large diaphragm condenser mic)
- (couple of ac. guitars with K&K combo system UST + hole condenser mic)

I put on brackets the guitars gear because I here am interested mainly in upgrading the quality of the two mic lines.
I don't aim to a pro-quality recording, but I can hear that the M-Audio interface is quite poor. This is what I coul do some days ago with the two mics only

Some suggested me to shift to a Digidesign MBOX 2 pro, other to a Focusrite Sapphire 14.
Other opinions? Please help me to make a good choice! Thank you!

The Focusrite interface will be a big upgrade from the MobilePre. I had a MobilePre (the first version) when I first started out and then I upgraded to a Saffire 6. The quality difference was incredible and it made a huge improvement in my recordings.

Yes, generally I have heard the M Audio Pre was not a great interface.

Yeah it was a great starter interface for me because back then I didn't really care about EQ, compression, reverb, etc. I just wanted to demo some tracks in GarageBand and the MobilePre allowed me to do just that. But after upgrading I realized how thin sounding the pres are in the MobilePre and how much fuller my bass and guitar DIs sounded with the Focusrite. Totally a great upgrade.

Now a few years later I've sold the Saffire 6 and have a Saffire Pro 40 :D Lots of love for Focusrite right here.
