GO PACKERS!
I am thinking about getting the upgrade from 98se to 2000 as it only costs $99.I use sonar and have an audiophile 2496 and midisport 2x2.My main reason is to make use of the wdm drivers.
I don't know anything about how these upgrades work.
My question is does anybody have some input/recommendations on the installation of this upgrade ?
Will I have to do some tweaking or does it pretty much take care of itself?

THANKS

The installation takes care of itself, and you shouldn't have any problems. That said, it's generally accepted that for best results, do a clean install - that is, wipe the drive clean and start from scratch.

Doesn't Sonar require MME drivers?

Sonar can use either MME or WDM drivers. Elevate, you might be thinking of the requirements for the Aardvark Q10. To get low latency with the Q10 and Sonar, you need to click the "MME drivers only" box.

Windows XP?

Have you thought about Windows xp? Don't take my word for it because I really don't know much about computers, but from what I've read and heard, it is much more stable and faster/smoother than 2000. I don't know what prices are around you but I saw it here (can't remember if it was home or pro) for 99 bux. Here at school, our software center is sellling it for $25. Just my 2cents

I did'nt want xp beacause it cost twice as much and from what I've heard it was'nt that much of a difference for sonar. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Wdm drivers are used in sonar but not in 98.
My main cocern was having to deal with technical issues.
I've heard about the reformat of the hard drive but I'm going to have to research that a bit more.
