Listening to that vox, I think I'd look into the Audio Technica LDC mics, if you can get them. The 4040 (inexpensive), or 4050 (more versatile), etc.

The 4040 is a pretty good value, obviously as you pointed out it may not be as good a value to purchase at home, but since you're making a trip to New York, that might be a great time to pick one up.

I never like buying used gear, I know it saves a lot of money but really never liked it. And with the pricing being so high in Holland importing is sometimes cheaper than buying used gear. Plus there isn't really much used gear for sale in Holland.

About knowing what we want, well. We are going to purchase the gear with 3 people (including me). One is looking for the brightest sound possible, thats why he wants the MD421-II, the other is like I want Neumann because everybody big uses that, doesn't want a dynamic microphone because well,. It's a dynamic. And me, I want a smooth/warm sound from the microphone, but not a dark sound.

So were pretty much stuck. We have to go out and listen, but thats a 150 km long trip which we are willing to make, but then we can only test the Bluebird, AT-4040 and AKG C214. To test other mics we even have to go further (for AKD and Heil we have to travel 300 km). And the more research we do the more possible microphones we have.

This sounds pretty good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acRyakJPYsc&fmt=18, I think they used an AT-40xx microphone.

Just wait till you get to NY to try out any mic you want no 150 to 300 km travel in Holland.

Well we want to purchase it all together, so we have to test together. But I'm the only one going to New York so we have to test in Holland. We are going to test them with the Desktop Konnekt 6 and a pre-amp because I don't want to buy a pre-amp in New York, probably going to be a GAP PRE-73 :P
