I currently use an Iomega 250 Zip drive with my Fostex FD-8 and was wondering what kind of drive (zip or otherwise)could I use to get more recording time. Always a pleasure,

I use the Orb drive. I know that some people have had problems with them in the past but, I have had mine for over a year now and it has operated flawlessly with my FD-4 and now my VF-16. With it's 2.2 Gig capacity and the disks being under $40, you just can't beat it. You could go to Fostex's CDR but, that sucker sells for ~$899.
I would give the Orb a try. Get it from a place that has a money back guarantee, and you have nothing to lose if you get a lemon.

Beware of the Orb !!!! 
Maybe it will work for you, but remember fostex will install a 4 gig for 200 too. Then you could switch out with other 2.5's for dirt cheap.
