Alright so my buddy got a MIDIMAN Midisport and hooked it up to his labtop and a Roland XP-10. The problem is a big delay that comes from the computers sound card. I don't know if there's some kind of setting for that or what. So any suggestions would be great thanks.

are you recording midi data or actually trying to play soft synths?

Check the drivers and Sequencer options. There is a latency setting and for some reason they often default to pretty high.

Depending on what OS and software you are using, audible delays are normal when using softsynths. This is one reason why Sonar with Win Xp or 2K was such a big improvement over Cakewalk PA 9 or Win 98. What OS and software are you using?

Try giving a little more detailed description of what you are trying to do and how things are hooked up. Are you using the keyboard to trigger softsynths or the sound card's MIDI? Are you using a recorded MIDI track to trigger the keyboard?

Ok sorry for the lack of info. It's my buddy's labtop, Pentium III, i think, WinME. When playing back a recorded midi file it worked fine, but when using it to trigger the soundcard's MIDI I get the delay.
Yea what are softsynths? That's probably a newbie question but hey that's me. Sorry. Thanks
