Unsupported VST Plugs?

Does anyone know what causes some third-party VST plugins to show up on the unsupported list?

The word "Unsupported" actually shows up on the Effects menu between DirectX and VST.

(I use Audition 2.0 on Windows7 64 bit.)

This is what I've read from troubleshooting VST plugins in Adobe site: Troubleshoot effects plug-ins for VST and DirectX (Adobe Audition)

Note: If a plug-in fails the first time, then Adobe Audition will not read it again and subsequently will list it as unsupported. You can check choose Effects > Unsupported to view unsupported plug-ins.

I suggest removing it and installing it again if its not working. If it is still unsupported and not working, most likely the plugin is not compatible with Adobe Audition. You can read the Adobe Audition page (URL provided) for details.
