Hi folks, older musician needs your help in recording. Been using Pro tracks plus for a while and thought I'd start creating my own drum tracks, figure loops are the way to go, but, downloaded some freebies to begin with but I don't even know how to import them into pro tracks. Any help you guys can give would be great. not real computer savvy so please keep it simple. Any other tips greatly appreciated, figured this was the place to find out....

Thanks, Brydges

I think its the bundle-ware version of Cakewalk - I got a copy with my Lexicon Omega audio interface - looked like a toned-down version of Home Studio 2004.

Brydges, what kind of freebies? Did you download audio loops (like .wav files?), or plugins - VST or DX software instruments designed to do drums (the more info the better)?

For anyone else interested, here's the protracks site:

http://www.protracksrecording.com/features.htm

Brydges, given what I saw there, nevermind about VST plugins -
VST and DX are two common standards by which a sequencer (Pro Tracks) can communicate a with a plugin (like a drum synth). I think all the retail Cakewalk stuff can handle VST now, but Pro Tracks can only handle DXi's ( = "Direct X instruments")

If that program is like other cakewalk programs, select an audio track, the go to FILE and import, it will let you select an audio file to import to that particular track you have selcted.
