It still plays, meters going and all, just no sound. I restart the program and it works fine. It only does this when I'm just playing back, it hasn't done it while recording.

1) Make sure you have the latest driver installed - check the website.
2) quit all non-essential background applications and processes like anti-virus, search indexing, etc. when recording.

If you continue to have problems with Cubase, why not try Reaper? It's free to try out.

I think I have the latest driver, I went to the alesis website. However I don't close background stuff...I'll start doing that.

Cubase came with the interface so that's why I'm using that but I think I'll switch to something else. I've read good things about reaper.

Yayyy I got my ASCAP welcome email. Sheesh you have to print your own card!

Reaper is good, but so is Cubase - I use Cubase LE 4 and it works fine for me.

ASCAP... hmm I seem to remember getting my membership card for ASSHAT but I think that is a slightly different organization.

I should get my ASCAP card...

My ART Tube preamp came today and it's so good! It's totally the missing link. At $30 bucks I'm more than satisfied and now my $200 package is actually quite good for money, except for the booty monitors. lol I'll get some used ones on Craigslist. I see they sell tubes that make upgrading/improving the sound quite easy and inexpensive so I'm going to do some more reading about that and see if I should do that. The V63M and the Shure both sound MUCH better.

lol @ asshat. I'm going to learn Cubase because they all have a learning curve. It's probably something that I can fix, I just have to make the effort to figure out how.
