The mp3 file is encoded at 64/22

Try a higher setting 128/44 at minimum.

This will improve the quality of the mp3.

Yeah, I'm not even gonna' bother at that encode...I mean, sure, I'm a snob, but at least I'm honest about it.

how do I encode at a higher setting/ Do i need special software for this?

Hey! Thanks for any info!

Whatever software you encoded it with probably allows you to adjust the rate, but I like to pass on this freeware whenever I can.

It rules. You can convert wave files by right clicking on them and it's very easy to adjust the encoding rate on every file you convert.

Incidentally, while 128 is kind of an "internet standard," I think 160kbps is a minimum if you want people to critique your mixes...cymbals and hi hats get kinda' "phasey" sounding @ 128.

Good Luck
(thanks to Participant for turning me onto that freeware many moons ago)

well i took a chance and listened to the 64bit encoded version. Sounds like a nice piece of electronica you have there.

Honestly i didn't hear any of the instruments that sounded lacking in terms of definition, and in my experience it's been really hard to get samples from synths or sequencers that don't sound full already. Are you sure you're just not shooting for louder? Is there any specific instrument or range in which you are unhappy with?

Usually the "my mix doesn't sound full" problem comes into play when you bring micing into the equation. Direct synth stuff usually the packaged samples are really well put together.

Hey people. You've really been a lot of help. really appreciate it. I had no idea you could manipulate the rates. I really does make a big difference. Thanks a whole lot.

U People are great!
