Greetings,
Is there any way to take an older (60's) recording and add more dynamics? Can you reverse compression?
I want to lower the quietest parts and lift the loud parts, just a little. Haha...is this possible?
Thanks for your patience if this is a ridiculous question.

Yes, it is possible and sometimes it works while other times it doesn't. You just need an expander. Most DAWs have something - take a look at JS General Dynamics if you use Reaper. I've also been known to put things through a Dolby A decoder to increase the dynamic range.

Import it into a DAW and then work on it - sometime you can use a Expander like @jamesperrett says - but you have to be careful that it doesn't override the track - you could also use RX9 Advanced and the various tools to clean up the tracks - this is the easiest route with the best results.
