I am looking to improve my hardrive performance. What do you guys think about getting an UltraATA 100 PCI. Does it help enough to go out and buy one of these?

I am looking at the Maxtor ATA/100 PCI.

If your current hard drive supports ATA/100 than you might notice some performance increase, but it's not gonna be earth shattering. The best way to improve performance is to use a 7200RPM hard drive for audio data only, and have a clean operating system for your recording app's only. So 2 seperate hard drives. Dual boot is an easy way to do this, one boot for internet/games, one for recording.

Emeric:

I am wanting to add a second drive (7200 rpm) to my celeron 566 and try to transfer some tracks from my Korg D16 to cakewalk. My existing disk is a 15gig ultra DMA 66. Will I need to have a new card or something installed for the second drive?
