UCA202 USB/Reaper hang-ups

Hello everyone,

I am using a Behringher 502 interface, along with the UCA202 USB to record guitar and vocals on my Dell laptop. I am curious, with this setups should I be able to record two tracks at once? Or is the rca connection limiting my ability to do so? As I said I am new, and my laptop is also older, so I am unsure of the hang up.

I was under the impression that with the Behringer 502 I would be able to record 2 tracks at once, but after reading some of the stickies, I am uncertain.

I appreciate any help you can offer.

More details needed
- what kind of laptop
- does it have USB port
- how do you have these two interfaces wired up?
- what insturments are you recording
- what connections do you have
My first impressionis that you can record two tracks using the mixer (1 mic and 1 line) using USB

You should be able to record two tracks at once.

In Reaper, set one track to record from the left channel of the UCA202, set the other to record from the right.

With the mixer, pan one channel (e.g. mike) hard left. Pan the other (maybe a guitar) hard right.
 
BTW, the Behr 502 is not an interface, it's a mixer. Do some reading.
 
The laptop is an older Dell Inspiron, with two USB ports. I have a mic and guitar input plugged into the Xenyx 502, and that running via RCA output to the UCA202 which runs through the USB to the Dell laptop. I am able to record both simultaneously, but only as one track, not separate. I am home now and am going to go play with it a bit more. I appreciate your interest and help thus far and will check back soon.

As already said, pan the mic to one side, the guitar to the other, then you have to select two tracks (one the left input, the other the right) in Reaper.
 
I just tried this and while it does work to record two tracks, it does not isolate the input I want it to. What I mean is that it will record the guitar alone on one track if I unplug/turn down the mic, but if the mic is on it will have guitar and vocals on both tracks. Its driving me nuts. I understand that I am going to get guitar through the mic given the proximity, but I don't understand why vocals are coming through the guitar track?
Any new information would be appreciated.

Double check that the mix is panned hard left and the guitar hard right (or vice versa). Other than that, I am stuck for ideas.
 
I suspect you have both left and right inputs selected for one track in Reaper.

You were right. I had not made the change to the right side on the mixer itself. Everything looked good within Reaper, but I had overlooked the mixer's right side. Thank you for your help.
