When Ubuntu Studio gets released this month I am thinking of giving it a shot and I was wondering if anyone out there knows if the Edirol DA-2496 sound card is functional in Ubuntu.

Ubuntustudio will probably use ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture). I believe that this is different from the sound "drivers" in regular Ubuntu. You can find out more about ALSA at:

http://www.alsa-project.org

A matrix for card support is found here:

http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/

I couldnt find your model there, but perhaps it is too new for the list?

Shouldn't they use Jack? I thought ALSA's latency wasn't low enough?

I thought jack was the routing ans ALSA was the "driver" :S
Im kinda new to Linux myself, so I have no answer.
