to the people experience with these products, which one has the better products such as limiter, eq, reverb, and so on.........UAD or WAVES? i bought waves a while back and i heard good things about the UAD products so i was thinking about getthing those also. Is it worth it? if i have the renaissance EQ and linear phase eq, is it worth getting the UAD eq?

I choose to use the UAD stuff over the waves stuff. Waves is good stuff, but the uad has more character to it. It has a sort of magic that I really like.

UAD dynamics are great. Precision Limiter, Multiband, LA2A, 1176LN, Fairchild . . .

Waves have very neutral (and rather transparent) sounding plug-ins, which definately has a place. But if you want character, UAD wins over waves.

I have used both, and each had its own stengths. Honestly I don't think you can really go wrong with either.

I sold my Waves bundle shortly after installing the UAD collection.

I do miss the X-Hum though... Just that one...

Perhaps this is just out of habit of use, but I do like waves R-comp for making drums trashy ("uncompressing" so to speak) - and I also like the way the Q10 can zero in on some exact frequency without seemingly changing anything else, and I like the C1 side chain (maybe because I just figured out how to use it hehe)

I'd still sell my right/left foot/ear/eye/whatever the black market needs for UAD-1, anything made by SSL and/or the URS stuff ;)
I hear the the Sony Oxford plugins are killer ... and the sony transient something something ...

I've used both I like the sounds I get from the UAD-1 better. However I'm thinking of gettin those SSL plugins they have.

What he said. :D

I use waves and ahve never erally got any character out of them, but saying that they ahv some great plug-ins. Like the L2, R-comp, C1 comp, and one of my favourites the Linear Multi-band. Imager is pretty good also. And the reverbs can be good, but sometimes I cant get the reverb Im looking for.

The waves stuff is good, but the UAD stuff just has that sound. Waves stuff doesn't have a sound, which can be exactly what you need.

I have the SSL plugin, I think they're great for the price, but don't expect miracles!

I love Waves

I love the waves plugs for the clinical character they have. I feel like I'm wearing a lab coat when i eq and compress with waves. If i want character I'd just prefer something off the wall like a cheap stomp box or a crappy plug. Just depends on your own M.O.

Not very often in my opinion!

Nor mine, but sometimes I record something that is especially chewy sounding in the first place. Adding more gooeyness would just be too much. That's when waves comes in.
