How is this bundle? Will these plugins sound significantly better than Waves? I'm really going after good EQ's, reverbs and compressors.

Also, is it possible to purchase the DSP card standalone?

The project pak is effectively the standalone card, as you get the bundled plugins 'free'. Every uad card includes them - the 1176SE, Pultec EQ, Channel strip, Realverb & a guitar processor.

I've never heard waves but the uad plugs are superb, even the free ones.

The biggest problem with the uad cards is that they're underpowered. So you get addicted to the plugs, but you can only run so many and the only way to get more is to buy more cards

i was looking into them too.

so it's on the PCI card only? it doesnt draw any CPU power? i've got plenty of that to go around..

waves also makes an outboard box, the whole floating DSP/CPU thing, similar to the powercore.

i'll be in the market for killer plugins soon, its looking like its between the waves gold bundle and the UAD.
