i own an Cakewalk UA-25EX and try to use Cubase 5. So far so good until i reached a point that needed to route the metronome (click) signal to my headphones out only (not main out).
I tried to find my way into Cubase with no luck. Then i searched if there is any software console for that interface with no luck as well...
Well, reading through forums some suggested something about adding busses, but i am not familiar with.

Anyway is there any solution to my problem???

Eager to listen,

Your headphone out is likely just the same signal the main out is getting. You could send the headphone out to a mixer and use a separate metronome. Though it wouldn't be in sync with Cubase.

Curious why you are concerned with the 'click' going to the main outs?

Hi, thanks for the reply.
My main concern is that i work with loops, so i need to send the click to drummer's headphones, but without the loops.
Is that possible to do?
I am afraid that the UA-25EX is the problem... (by not having more outs).

Anyway, i am waiting for your answers!!

Sorry man, busy day...

Yeah, you are going to need an interface with more outputs I am afraid. Seems the headphone out on your unit is not able to be selected as a separate output. Even my Steinberg UR824's don't have that ability. From Cubase, you would be able to select which output channels get the Cubase click via VST Connections. Or you can direct a drum program for a custom click to whatever output you need.

Even with more outputs, you will need something to send to that has a headphone output, like a mixer or headphone amp. Even a $40 Behringer would work.

You could in theory, pan the two tracks in Cubase, use two headphone amps and split the L/R outputs from the UA-25 to each and record with a mono signal sent to headphones. Just a Jimmy rigged idea...

Better to just get an interface with less limitations.

you know it's funny that you get a product that have pro features (according to Cakewalk) and not be able to do that very basic task.

Just to throw another silly idea, i wont mind if the click goes out from a different out than headphones because everytime we use a mixer/console. So is that possible?
I just see only 1 pair outs in Cubase...
Explain that to me if you're familiar: the RCA outs and the headphone outs are EXACTLY THE SAME as i connect in main Outs (1/4 TRS)?????

In Cubase, go to Devices>Device Setup...>VST Audio System. Once your UA-25 driver is selected there, it will be listed on the line below VST Audio System on the left panel under Device Setup. Click on that. That will tell you every input and output your unit has available. If only two mono outs, then yes your 1/4", RCA, and heaphone outs are all the same. It is possible that the 'Direct Monitor' may only affect the headphone out, or maybe the RCA as well. Likely not the 1/4" outs. You would just have to try and see. -though, that part doesn't really help you here...

Like I said, you could pan your loops to one side and click to other and run them into the mixer. Basically running two mono outputs as opposed to 1 stereo one. But I'm still not quite clear in what it is you are trying to do just yet. :(

I guess panning is the most appropriate option in my case.
Ideally i would like to have 1 pair of stereo main out (to send out the loops to a mixer) and 1 mono out (to send the metronome to a -let's say- pair of headphones).

one other thing i don't understand, is why in cubase are listed only the 2 pre-amp ins and the main outs, as long as the UA-25EX has also midi in-out and optical in-out...

Midi inputs don't show up in the audio input list. Not sure about the digital (optical) in/out. Been a while since I had an interface with them. Maybe they don't show up until a signal is connected. I'm not sure how they are used with your interface. The fact that the specs say 'recording only' with Digital in on, makes me wonder how they are using the ability.

On my previous interface (Tascam US1800) the digital inputs were always listed in VST Connections. Though, they were also connected to a 2 channel preamp with digital out...
