Two soundcards?

This may be a totally elementary question. I did a search for "two soundcards" but didn't find the answer.

Can a person run more than one soundcard? To increase number of inputs/outputs?

I'm currently using a Delta 44 and found them on sale. I can pick up another one for $149.

Thanks.

I run three soundcards in my PC: 1 Yamaha DS-XG for MIDI sounds, and two Aardvark Pro Audio cards.

Thanks!

I use SONAR Producer. Does the additional soundcard show up as inputs/outputs 1 through 4 or 5 through 8?

Also, does thios cause the CPU to work harder?

I don't know how Sonar handles it but in Cakewalk 9 you pull the Options menu down, select Audio, then the Drivers tab. You then select the soundcard i/o's you want to make available to files/projects. They may show up as left/right pairs.

Almost forgot: I don't think just making every input/output channel available affects performance. Putting them to actual use, especially at the same time, would be a different story.

I'd suggest looking at the sound card documentation. My Terratec came with a synch cable and instructions for using up to 4 cards.

I asked the same question over a year ago about the delta 66 with the delta 1010. The answer was "yes" in reguard to those 2 particular cards. As for the 44,I dont know but i cant see why not.

In any case the latest drivers would be here. Read the descriptions and u may find what ur looking for.
