ive got two mix effects that i will post clips for...
i was wondering...if this was YOUR MIX, and someone wanted these effects, how would you go about doing them.

First Effect:

I am asking in reference to the sort of low-fi drum effect...you hear int he background after the downbeat. obviously i can sense some delay in it...but what do you feel was done? how would you do it? maybe compression, eq and delay on an overhead? or a pair of them? let me know

Second Effect:

I am asking in reference to the tape slow effect. I've had some experience trying to recreate this in the past, with a plug-in, that was simply shit. In digital recording, how would you achieve this? Is there a plug-in that is better (i can't recall the name, it was two years, 30 minutes, and throwing it out).

Thanks a bunch...Much appreciation to anyone who has anything useful to say :)

First one sounds like a low-fi effect was put on the snare track. This can be achieved in a variety of ways. Then ran thru a stereo delay with different delay times for each side. With a fairly big reverb as well.

I'm no expert, but that's what it sounds like to me.

edit - also, play with the feedback setting on the delay.....

ahh very nice...
ill see if there is simple pitch bending like that in PT

The low-fi drums in that case sound like midi to me. I'd just track down those lo-fi drum samples and sequence it out. I highly, highly doubt that was a true drum kit.

well why do you think it was sequenced drums???

what would be the point in that when the same beat is played in the song and you can make it low-fi

erm the drums i would eq to a am radio type sound, then through one of those guitar amp simulators (the jcm900 is pretty good) the stick loads of reverb on it
