Two Metal Mixes

I've upload two mixes of the same tune Life from a band I've just started recording. The mixes are for deciding direction with the band. The differences in the mixes are centered toward the tonality of the guitars.

Shoot me some feedback.

HEAVIER IS BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the heavier guitars are better. I also think that the vox are a bit loud in some spots, but you are mainly focusing on guitars so i would have to say the heavier...And drop the vox a tad. Metal!!!! Keep it coming.

im on dialup

so i don't have the time or patience to download both versions. I went for the growlier mix. The guitars sound pretty good from what i can tell. The vocals sound a little loud/plain in places as stated before. Maybe a little more reverb or ambience would help them sit better in spots.
I would consider this to be more along the lines of hard rock than metal. Thats just me though.

I like them both. (Helpful, right??)

If I had to pick, I would go with the "smoother" guitars. Nice tone on both, but the smoother one sounds a little warmer to me.

haha. that sounds exactly like the "metal" song my pop band wrote a couple years ago, kind of.. just that main riff, the tempo, the texture. different key though. ha. here's a link:

i like the "growlier" better. i'm not sure about the vocalist's affectation. whatever the band likes, i guess. danzig is the only person who sings like danzig, you know?

I'm going to vote for Growlier because they seem to have more presence or something. It has some more shine then the smooth ones.
