Two Delta 44s? possible?

I just bought and installed my second M-audio Delta 44.
I just read on an M-audio press release that 44s can't be linked. Has anyone heard anything to the contrary?
On the M-audio control panel it sees the two cards but I can only select one at a time and now Cubase won't even recognise either of the cards as inputs.
should I jack it all in and get a 1010?
 
The thing with the Delta 44 is that it doesn't have digital IO. The most common way to keep cards synced up is to have cards in master/slave relationship via the digital IO. With everything else in the Delta line, it's with SPDIF. Since the Delta 44 doesn't have it, well...
 
I'm pretty sure I read someone on this board saying they had two linked up to work together.
 
I think Sklathill has a point, as Cubase was also complaining about synch errors. they both have internal clocks and i have no idea how they'd talk to eachother. So if it's been done, I doubt the two cards were synched.
 
Look in the Delta control panel and see if you have an item called "multicard sync" - I believe it needs to be checked.

All M-audio have to say is this...

"The Operating Systems Windows 2000/XP support "KernelSync" and do not necessarily need the external connection using S/PDIF. Delta 44 can only be stacked in these Operating Systems, since this card does not have a S/PDIF connector."

Any more info available on thet KernalSync?

I'd like to know if anyone actually got 2 44s running together
 
I think I read in SoS that Kernal sync means the buffers are synchronised, but not the audio clocks. The cards are therefore still free-running on their own clocks.
 
I've been using the delta 44 (Win2k Pro)with Sonar 3 after lot's of tuning got it working the way I want. I plan to add another 44 so im following this thread. Here are a few things to consider. Install the latest .46 drivers

If you have onboard sound disable it in bios....In the cntl panel--. sounds-media->audio have recording device ->M-Audio.... under playback I actually switch from multi channel, 1/2, or 3/4 depending on the situation.

In the delta 44 control panel -> Hardware Settings I have the following which may be right or no but work for me... Master Clock internal-> checked....Multi Track Driver Devices -> independent-> checked.... Latentcy 384 Use Windows Mme -> unchecked. Disable control**** Audio devices -> checked....

In Cakewalk there is the option to set Playback Timing Master which I have on M-Audio 1/2 Also the same on record....




Keep posting as you solve this problem.....
