Hi peoples........darn.....I have two Delta 44 cards on their way to me in the next day or so. I was really excited, now after hearing a few comments here and there, I'm not so sure.
Is it true that this can't happen with these particular cards, 2 Delta-44 cards creating 8 potential in/outs, in the one PC,(obviously!)??
Just a practical answer, if you would be so kind.....
You can prolly understand how I feel right about now, If you know the answer, from your experiences, please let me know?
PS...I will not be using ASIO drivers....just WDM's.
Man, I'm (potentially) cut!!
I thankyou.

FWIW, I remember reading something on the M-Audio website FAQ about being able to link two Delta 44's using Win XP's "kernel sync" or something like that. I've linked Delta 66's together using spdif & currently run 2 1010's using wordclock to link them, but not 2 44's. The worst situation is, you will be able to use them together but they may drift apart slightly.

Thanx mate....mmmm......I wonder how they would appear under the device listing in CEP2.1????? Or Wxp for that matter???? Would they look like 2 seperate units??? mmmmmmmmmmm......

Cheers.

I had a 66 and 1010 linked via SPDIF. I don't think you can sync the two 44s.

You can run 2 Delta"s in your PC without any Problems but you will not get very good performance useing WDM...You will have Bad Latency problems (At least I did just useing one Delta in WDM mode)....

Why can"t you use ASIO???

Yer....I used 3 identical SB Live! Values (16bit) for 3 years now.....with no latency issues to speak of!! I can record 6 mono ins (for drum kit), never had an issue. And the quality is very good! (All hooked upto to my Alto L-16 desk).
So on that basis, I'm hoping that 2 High Quality cards (D44's) should be seen as 2 different units (as per currently installed SB Live! by windows and Cool Edit) and perform even better???
Does that sound like a reasonable presumption guys?

I've never used Asio, so I guess it's more of a lacking in my skill set, where that is concerned, rather than issues I have with asio.

Thankyou.....more feedback?, it's great!

Running in ASIO Mode is no different than running in WDM mode , You just have to select ASIO in the Software Settings.....

And yes the software should see 2 seperate Cards....

Cheers

When you install the cards and load the Delta drivers, both cards will show up on the Delta Control panel. From memory I think there's a switch you can check to invoke Kernal Sync. I've never done it myself but the advice from M-Audio is that Kernal Sync under XP will work

Sounds interesting BS....ta....I wonder why M-Audio suggests that you can't sync 2 Delta 44's.....
But I figure, like I said earlier, that if 3 crummy SBLives! can snyc (record seperate inputs in time with each other) and 'wonderfully' together, why can't delta 44's???
You're making me think, and it's hurting!!!

Love more info on the kernal fix!
Thanx,
Superspit.

Sorry to sound like such a noob BS, but is the Kernal sync addressable/modifiable via xp that I modify, or is it an external piece of software etc. Could u possibly point me in the right direction mate? Really would appreciate it!

No the kernal sync is a feature of XP the the M-audio drivers can exploit. In the Delta control panel I'm pretty sure it's called Multi Card Sync

So you can record on 2 Delta 44's.......this is ace news!
Thankyou!
