Does any body know anything about the TurtleBeach Santa Cruz sound card. It has, I hear, one stereo line in and another stereo line In/out that is dedicated by software.

It's a regular SB compatible soundcard. About as old (if not older) as the AWE32

...but it is supposedly is the quietest non-pro card out there!

Tip #1 for buying souncards - make sure it still still is a current product and has up to date drivers!!

Tip #2 Don't buy anything that doesn't have WDM or ASIO drivers - you're asking for trouble.

has to be one of the best sounding consumer cards (SB type) out there....and yes it has a 2nd 1/8" stereo jack that can be configured via software to be an extra line in or line out or whatever......

just beware the driver issues brzillian mentioned.....but for $60, its a very nice entry level card......

WildFire,

??? The Santa Cruz is not the vintage of the AWE card, it's been out less time that the SB Live card has.... The Turtle Beach Monterey must be what you are thinking of.

Then came the Montego and the Montego II around the same time as the SB Live...

.. then the Santa Cruz a year or two later...

I'm using a Santa Cruz for live electronica performances and the DACs sound very nice. I wouldn't record with it though. The inputs are quite noisy.
