I'm going to be tuning my 6-piece Tama Rockstar kit tomorrow and I was just wondering if there were any tricks that I don't know about yet. I have heard that you need to tune the Bass and Snare just tight enough to get a bounce-back from the head... So basically, really low. Anyway, if anyone has any info on drum tuning, please let me know. Thanks.

That's rubbish! Is that for feel or tone? First of all, how do you want the kit to sound? There are so many types of tuning and so many methods, you have to picture in your mind's eye what you want. For example, you can get the same drum to go "thug" "BOOooom", "dink" or "dong". And yes these are highly sophisticated drum tech lingo phrazes.

My suggestion is to do this first, then ask how to abtain THAT sound if you're not able to find it for yourself.

No offense intended at all Rush, but you forgot "Blap".

IMHO Prof. Sound's Drum Tuning Bible
is probably the most comprehensive source available......

He's a talented individual and to compile all that data and make it available for free is nothing short of fantastic.

I highly reccomend it.........
