Tuning and waterproofing

On the Danny Carey website, he talks about how he tunes his drums to certain pitches (A,D,C, ionno wut tuning he has his)... is there any device that can let you know the exact pitch of a drum sound? Like a guitar tuner, except for drums.

And also, is there anyway I can waterproof (or warp proof in general) drums without damaging them?

There are drum tuners that measure the tension of the skin at different points around the drum. Tama make one and a compny called drum dial also make one.

Otherwise play the note on a piano, tuning fork, guitar etc and tune by ear to that note.
