Very cool - you familiar with the band Epicycle? Those guys are big into the foley thing when it comes to production.

Snake,
Sorry dude, I tried to get it to stream....no dice! I'll try later.

Thanks Guys...which mic do you mean?

All guitars are recorded direct

vocals use a marshall electronics 990 condenser

drums are 3 sm 57s...the 990....and shure's beta series bass drum mic....

The drums were mixed on a Behringer UB series mixer and then sent to the mr8

vocals also ran thru the behringer

Sorry. I meant the vocals. They sound real clean and clear.

How do you set up your POD? Are you using the Line-out or headphone jack? How do you minimize the noise? Very nice by the way.

As far as my POD settings im using brit classic and brit high gain....classic for the clean and crunchy, and highgain for the boost....

What Ive learned about the POD and recording guitars in general....

LESS IS MORE....

you get better results if you turn the gain down but record multiple guitars and then pan them out in the sterio spectrum

great job

Hey i really think this is a good tune, nice job on all, the vocals in the first few lines seem a little flat, but being an old geeser this may be the exact sound you are looking for. Anyway, i really enjoyed your song, hope to hear more of them in the future

Good stuff Snakeman. Like the bit about seatbelt signs going on and off like our relationship. Was that thought the inspiration for the song?

Presumably you taped the ATC R/T off an airband? (I spent seven years as a part time airshow pilot - hearing it brought back memories!!)

omg

I love that song dude....

You MUST help me get our vocals to sound like that. Its so clear. I love it. I've admired ur recordings since i first got my mr8, you have the sound i'm looking to get out of it.

Thank you all for your positive replys....As I sat in an airplane recently I realized how love can be as annoying as the unpredictablity of airtravel....but thats a different story...

DMFjoe my bro.....

Do you like thursday? My newer stuff is leaning toward their style of guitar play....either way, the only way I can explain my vocal sound is to show you excatly what equipment Im using

My mic is a marshall electronics 990...I dont think they make this mic anymore but this one has the same specs as mine plus the battery power

In my earlier recordings I ran the mic into an ART tube MP preamp but the biotch quit working one day....I dunno...but I had my eye on a mixer anyway......a berhinger ub2442...people on these boards trash behringer but for the money the things rocks....

I just run the mic straight into the mixer, set my gain to an appropriate level, and then add a bit of high and low end.....the mixer goes into the mr8....The vocal track is then placed into ntrack where I only add vocal compression and a little high end (depending on how thick the mix is)

Hope this helps....let me know

I just hope I get that good of a vocal sound when I get my V67G that I just ordered?

Isn't it amazing? I mean all the reports of how good the recording sounds and OOOOOHHHHHH NNNNOOOOOO!!!!!! He used a BEHRINGER mixer!!!!!! With all the bad rap Behringer gets on this board man that tune is pretty good testament that behries are worth using... something I've been saying all along. Good stuff man, I gotta say I got a chuckle outta that last clip. Well done.

Behringer sell a lot of stuff and seem to be more than holding their own. That says it all for me. They certainly give you value for money. I love my mixer and feel I got more than my moneys worth.

By the way, Gospel, your going to love the MXL V67.

I seriously think that some people are scared to use "cheap" equipment. I think it is a problem that is rooted deeper .......... It is an inferiority complex....I thrive on making my hard earned cash go as far as possible, not that I wouldnt love to have a 48 channel Mackie mixer but I would also like to eat. Untill then Behringer rules..

b

Don't take me wrong for saying this because I just ordered a Behringer UB802. I have a few friends in gospel music that, like our group, have 2 or more bookings every weekend. Because of their experience with Behringer our group uses a Mackie mixer. Two of them had Behringer mixers and had no complaints about them except for the fact that they did not hold up but a couple of years when used on the road. One had a couple of channels go out. I'm not bashing Behringer at all and this might just be isolated incidents. I'm just saying that this might be where they get their bad reputation on the boards (road worthiness). Still, I ordered one and can't wait to get it, but it is gonna stay at my house in my almost complete home studio.

Kd-

Im sure thats mainly what you are paying for in a mackie....longer lifespan under harsh conditions...the behringer is most likely best suited for fixed applications like studios. You are going to love your mixer!

b

I've never heard anything bad about behringer. A friend of mine, from whom I bought my mackie has never had anything negative to say about bayringer (a question of pronounciation is included in my phoenetic spelling)

I did download snakes mp3, and though this is the furthest thing from "my cup of tea", I have to admit that it was very well executed.

Snake,
I am stuck in an era maybe, but are you, at all, influenced by The Cure?

Just curious...
