I'm working on an EP for a punk band called Back Door Betty. The singer and drummer from my own band Genital Hercules are in this band. Here's a partial rough mix of a tune we're working on. There's going to be another guitar on here, but the other guitar player hasn't come in yet. It has everything else, but it's not a polished mix.

This song is called Alcoholic Hobo and it's about the ubiquitous drunk guy at the rock concert.

cool tune.. vocals are tooo loud though.. this type of tunes doesn't need the vocals soo loud. That's my biggest complaint... maybe the drums could use some more highs.. not the cymbals, just the drums.. I think it would sound a lot better with the vocals lowered imhop.. nice bass sound, cool heavy parts..

:D

Heh. Laughin thru this. Sounds like the "singer" could spit lava :) Dis what dey call "thrash/hardcore"? Good sense of humor. Gets me in that goofy mood that "Toxicity" does. Just listening on MM speakers... not monitors... so no real mix comments here. Bass does sound trebly... but guess that works.

Fast fast fast. Dig it.

Thanks for the responses, dudes. I'll see about taking down those vocals. I've really only ever mixed my own vocals before, except one other time, so I'm used to having to second-guess myself. Usually I try to put the vocals too quiet.

The singer is one goofy dude. He's a superb musician, and he can sing a wide variety of material. I'm extremely happy about finding him and getting him in my band. The verses on this song--the drunk guy speeches--were pretty much all improvised. No two takes were the same.

I think I'd like to try to get a little more low end out of that bass, though I think the trebly sound works for this style of music. We'll see what kind of requests the band makes for the mix.

Nice recording

Vocals are a tad loud... I had to turn down the volume

Cool

that is the freeakiest cat Ive ever seen

This would be a pretty good tune if you would just shoot that damn singer.

It's sounding cool Whoopy. I'd agree with everyone about the vocals needing to come down a bit. The music very mono and lo-fi sounding but it works well for that type of music. That wasn't an insult. It sounds as good as a lot of the indie punk stuff.
