"...Tumbleweed" Remixed with your help

Hey guys, I took a lot of your tips (B. Sabbath, CrankyOne, Jags...) and remixed this song. It's definitely not trying to be an MTV hit or any shit like that, but I just really want a good mix, and to improve.

I reduced a lot of low frequencies and trimmed down the reverb. Seems to have improved a lot on clarity both in the softer sections and in the ballsy places too. Any other suggestions?

Sounds fuckin awesome. I would bring the snare up a bit more on the heavier parts toward the end but thats just my preferance.

The bass at the end was a little boomy in places and there may be a little bit of clipping. Some compression there may help smooth it out a bit.

On a more subjective level I think the arrangement is great but you might go a little overboard on some of the sweeping synths. I really didnt like the string sound in the beginning especially the higher part. It just sounded like a cheap keyboard.

Overall a very cool and original tune.

maybe it's me...but I still think the vocals are hard to understand in many parts, and low in volume in parts too. ...and they sound kinda artifically crispy to me too. The same goes for the entire blending of the instruments too. They get kinda washed together, and lose their individuality, which I think is bad at times. I understand combining for a new sound, but I think that the 'space' in the mix for each instrument isn't here. This is a great tune, and the production is struggling to hit the nail on the head, but you're on the right track. What are you using for monitors, and what kind of playback room are you in??
 
Mixmkr, nothing as pro as I'd like, I'm afraid. "Monitors" are 200W Altec Lansing PC speakers in a regular living room. Do you think the problems are in panning, or in EQ or both? I've only been doing this about 2 months so I have soooo much to learn.
