Tube Vocal Mics $500-$700 Range

The GS board classifieds can be pretty good. You can always make an offer to a poster there and haggle. With e-bay (and I've bought lots of mics off e-bay), you have to be pretty diligent in checking. Anything priced BIN at a decent price goes very quickly. I bought a couple Gefell LD condensers off e-bay last year for @$600-700 each which is maybe $200-300 less than typical for those models used and about $400 to $500 less than street price if they were new. Both were BIN deals. Some gear dealers also handle used gear and it's worthwhile checking those sections on their web pages.

I have a Studio Projects TB1. It hadn't come out of the mic closet much in the few years. I recently changed the 6072 tube, which sees it in use a lot more often.

For $600-700 bucks ...

Forget whether or not it has a tube in it.

Just get a Shure KSM-44, and be happy that you have a "real" mic, and a professional tool that you'll be able to use for years, and that will sound good on just about kind of voice.
