Ok dudes and dudettes.

I seem to have have alot of neutral mics 414,SM81,BG4.1, e609, ev408,D2 and C3000 eek!

Pre's are Grace 101, and Souncraft SX, and in the corner Wackie.

I'm considering a AT4040, then thought hey why don't I get a colored mic????? So I'm looking to see what ya'lls opinions are on this. What would a tube mic do for me? Looking to add a flavor in my palette.

Instruments: gtr-el and ac, bass, some horns-pipe and reed, and mainly latin percussion I'm mostly talking congas.
PLease be forwarned congas are not like other hand percussion e.g. cowbells, triangle, tambourine etc etc.. allthough many do associate percussion all in the same type of catagory , me thinks not. I think I've got enough to cover the other stuff, but I'm not happy with congas.

Tunages: Smooth, funk, classic jazz, some light rock, latin(most styles) and whatever else that comes in . Please note I am a latin percussionist.and dabble on piano-keys he he....

Thanks

I like the AT4060 with the Grace's ..I've had good luck with that set up..Also look into the MXL V69 tube, it sounds very nice{$300.00}..I've never tried the 4040..could cool also..Good luck

I've been using the 4060 with great results. Vocals through an Altec 1567a preamp. Acoustic guitar, room mic for drums...all sound great.
