tube mic? details of home setup

Hi. My first post here. I'm planning a PC-based home studio to record my songs and need to buy a mic for vocals and to help on acoustic gtr and percussion. I read that it helps guide you kind enough to respond if I provide details, so here goes:

-Ntrack sequencer and Firewire 410 interface (has pres). No outboard mixer.
-Rockish or folky acoustic-gtr-based music with other instrums recorded direct or triggered by midi. (Recding in apt)
-Seek naturalistic sound, warm.
-Male baritone vocals, some rasp on the edges, not real loud. Want some enlargement, so to speak.
-Recorded before but not with computer. Want to keep it simple (eg, just 2-3 mics).
-More serious than hobby. Song demos.
-Spend up to $1K for tube LDC. Seems these songs with a digital setup need tube warmth, so buy good tube mic inistead of split money between tube pre and non-tube mic. Will also pick up a single SDC for acoustic gtr.

Interested in but haven't been able to heard AT4060, V69ME, T3, and NTK. GT55 was a bit heavy or dark. I much appreciate any thoughts. Cheers.
 
...recommended:

$300. - V69M or used NTK
$500. - SP T3 or used RODE K2
$1000. - David Royer's Mojave MA200 (spectacular!)

*NOS Tube upgrade also recommended on all but the Mojave.

...also, recommended mic pre (tube or otherwise): Groove Tubes Brick ($300-400)
 
thanks kidvybes for the tip on the mojave and brick. i'm reading and they do sound like what I'm lookin for.
 
At4060

There's not alot of reports/opinions on this board about the AT4060, but i've used it enough over the past 4 months to get a pretty good take on it. I think the term you used pretty much covers the sound of it - naturalistic. I find this mic to be pretty versatile, because it has a neutral tone to it...with just a hint of something else going on. It's not a big in your face colour, but when those tracks come together...there is something extra to the sound. When i use the proximity effect on this mic, i can get a warm, big vocal sound (which i dont naturally have!!!). I bought it from the same seller listed in the ebay ad above, unheard, and i havent regretted the purchase. Easily the most versatile mic i own.
 
I'm planning on a big cahuna crazy bouncing off the walls good tube mic, no rush but I won't settle either. I was gonna look into those mods. What are some views on the mods of the NADY 1100 and mics like the V77 and SP T3 as compared to the AT4060 and the Pelusio 22 tube mics? Is it worth really saving up a good 700-grand or just spending a good hundred or two on something almost or as good.

I just bought those two on Ebay!!!!! I figured at $250 each it was a deal...any mods for the T3?

...well, looks like you ended up with 2 great deals (3 mics!) from Ebay...$250 for the T3 is outstanding!...great mic...even greater with a NOS 6072 tube...I guess you know where to look for one of them ;) ...
