TSR-8 and M-512 mixer

What are your thoughts on using the tascam TSR-8 with the tascam M-512 mixer?

Is it possible to record 8 tracks simultaneously?
Would this be a good start for a personal studio?

That combination would be better then good! It would be a fantastic core to a quality project studio and yes, you could record 8 tracks in one take thanks to the 8 buss architecture of the mixer.
