using motu mkII and cubase 5.0 and P3 500 w/ 394 mb ram...

I cant figure this out please help!!!! I think it has to do with buffers or cache or something like that maybe..

yup, it's prolly a buffer error.. you need to make it bigger... the buffer that is...
In Options - Audio Setup - System - Asio Control Panel
You'll see a little square called "Buffer" in your Playback Device window.
You can click the number underneath and make it a little larger progressively till you don't get any more clicks and pops...

What software instrument are you trying to use along with cubase? It could also be a matter of clattering voices or too much vst action at once, but i doubt it...

no software instrument. I am trying to get 16 tracks of adat dumped into cubase for mixdown and editing. i tried doing just one track and got the same result so I knwo it cant be a overload on the resources.

what is the downside of raising the buffer level? Will this affect the monitoring on overdubs (latency)?

ohh.. on record? then you need to raise the Record Buffer size..
Doing it will cause higher latency in the recording, but it won't have any effect on the sound of the result.

I suggest you also try changing the Asio Device...
what soundcard do you use?

arrrggghhh i'm blind!! I can't see!! arrgghh... motu...

yeah I find it hard to believe this expensive card needs such a high buffer... that is really disapointing. If this means I cant do overdubs due to latency then something has to be wrong. Surely no one would buy this if it was basically useless!

well I tried adjusting the buffer on the asio/motu card and it was better but still the problem continues.

I think I am going to have to find someone that really know these configs and probably pay them to look into this for me. what a dissapointment.. damn.

in Options - Audio Setup - System... under the button saying "Asio Control Panel"

that I think is the buffer setting if I am not mistaken. There two buffer adjustments I see there. One as the system (128) and then on the asio control part I also have it set at 128 but I also set it to 256 but no go. same stuttering or halting on record. Even if I narrow it down to just one track.

I wonder if the data drive I am storing to is not actually running in DMA mode. i dont knwo how to check that though
