is like......well something really hard....

So , as I was saying...This is a new tune re-written from an old tune, but different enough to be called a new tune...or something like that. I recorded this this week-end and just finished mixing it.
I worked on my lead sound quite a bit since the general consensus was that it was a little thin in my last few tunes. So let me know how the guitar and vocals sound...thanx alot...

The player should start automatically, but somitemes it mixes up the tunes, so make sure it's DROWNING IN DENIAL

While you're there...please say high in the guest book or start a thread in the forum...it's getting lonely.

Sounds good.

I really think you nailed the vox well in this one, suits your voice very well.

Sweet Riff.

Great sounding recording.

Cool solo

No nits here :)

Hey RAMI,

This song has that Egyptian feel to it!!!....... :D :D

Drowning in The Nile!!.... :D :D :D

Ok, RAMI,

The guitars are sounding great on this tune, I really like the verse riff, nothing fancy but very effective and catchy. The solo you played here is one of the best solo's I have heard you execute, I don't know if you have done too much different in your tracking, I think you are executing your note choices and the attack on the strings with a slightly "more determined" feel.

Great tune RAMI,..You are definitely capturing a tone for your rhythm and lead playing that I enjoy listening to!

I have to go now, I could chat about this a little longer but for now RAMI....Good Stuff!!

Gorty :)

Hey guys, thanx alot. I really didn't know if this tune worked since it's previous incarnation didn't.

I played with the pre-amp alot for the guitars. I was using the tube sound but boosting the high's. Now I had it boosting up the lo-mids and I think it gave it a warmer sound.
Thanx alot.

Hey Rami another great tune. I have a question for you if you don't mind. I'm just starting out drumming and I know I'm looking way too far ahead but how do you get your drumming so freakin tight? I've never given your drumming the respect it deserves cause everyones always talking about the guitar and the mixing and stuff.

I gave the drums a good listen on this tune and you are a fabulous drummer. That said and stuff, how do you track a song like that from scratch? Do you get the idea on bass or guitar first? Do you use a click when tracking your drums or do you lay down a guitar track first to play to? Do you do alot of editing on your drum tracks? What editor? Inquiring minds want to know :p or you could tell me to go lay an egg  Not bad for A question aye?

Thanx alot...NyM....It's not the same for every song, but this song is definitely a guitar-written tune. I record on a TASCAM 2488 (24 track, though I rarely use more than 15-16). I then bring it into Wavelab to "master"...I have to put that in quotations, because I'm no mastering engineer. I use pretty much the same settings and plug-ins for all my songs. While tracking, I don't do much editing. In fact, I don't even like to copy and paste parts that come up again. I'd rather play it and hope that every verse, chorus, etc...has a slightly different feel than the last. Having said that, sometimes I'm on take 89 before I get it right.

(EDIT: I didn't realise you asked if I edit my DRUM TRACKS. I thought you meant in general. As far as my drum tracks go, I never edit or punch in. I play the song all the way through. Being a drummer, my drum tracks are usually first or second takes.)

For this song, what I did was program a generic drum machine beat and then put down a shitty guitar track. Then I did my bass. Then I re-tracked the guitars for real. After that, I did all the vocals, and finally, the drum track. I like to play drums to the song with a drum machine as my click, so I do the drums last, which might be strang for most people.

After that, I throw it in Wavlelab, with some Magneto and L2...and Bob's your uncle. :)

Yo Rami,
While you're on that subject, just out of curiosity, how long do you "practice/write" a song on different instruments before you record? Or do you write as you record? I used to just kind of make a drum track and write as a I record. I found more and more if I jam out the full songs guitar part with practice takes, I get more ideas and things change for the better the more I play it. Then when it's time to record I have a better song and it should be tighter since I actually know the song. Just curious what you do... (P.s- I'm listening to song now, be back with a review)

Yeah, I sort of write/pratice/track almost at the same time. But like I said, it takes me many many takes, so those first 178 are my practices and re-writes as I get ideas. Also, many times, once the tune is "finished", I get a much beter idea for the guitar, for example, once I hear the vocals on it.

Yeah nice playing and sound on the intro. Good vox and volume on everything on my system. Drumming rocks! Song is catchy, I like  Yeah I like what you did with the lead guitar, fills up more space... tone fits the song well too. i dig the high vox later too.
Well no recommendations here. Good work man, I always think your stuff can't sound any better, but then you're always getting better and better! Good stuff...
G-Dawg 7 ;)

Well I sent you one manually and if you signed up properly on my soundclick site you should have received another last week (the one about Dogman drinking 30 beers in one day and etc) Other than that you'll receive them as often as I send them (which I've been slacking lately) But don't worry, your additional power for being in the internets' most powerful and feared cult remains a constant independent of the number of newsletters sent per week ;)
