I'm trying to record some files from my friend's Fostex VF-16 to my computer so that I can put these onto a cd with my burner. He plans on buying some equipment for himself in the future but for now we're trying to get buy with what we have to work with. I'm attempting to use the L-R RCA outputs on the Fostex with my Line-In on my soundcard (I/O Magic). I have the proper cable. I am attempting to use the sound recorder that comes with windows. I believe that this records in wav format. The music can be heard through my computer speakers and it appears that it is being recorded on the sound recorder but when you play back the recording it has recorded nothing or so it seems that way. Is there something I'm not doing correctly or is the sound recorder not designed to do this? Thanks in advance for any help I may receive.

Try using Sonic Foundry's SOUND FORGE.

Download a demo version of this program from...

http://www.sonicfoundry.com

You could use this as your recorder

This should help to remedy the problem at hand.

:D

Check the mixer window for your soundcard and make sure that the line in (or mic in, which everone your using as you input) is checked. Double click on the speaker icon in the bottom left of your screen then go to "options-properties" then adjust volume for "recording" and make sure that the line in or mic is checked and the volume is turned up.

Hope this helps
