I just built a new box, and I decided to build it not only for internet usage and the programming I do, but also for recording myself playing guitar. This is my setup:

Soyo Dragon KT333 Plus
ATI Radeon 7000 32MB DDR
256MB DDR333 RAM
Terratec DMX 6Fire 24/96

Software: Sonar 2.0XL

I'm currently trying to get the best possible sound quality from this setup as I possibly can. Here is the first recording I've made with this setup.

The music itself isn't anything special, It is very short, I'm just using it to test the capabilities of my system. Since many of you have alot of experience, please listen to it and help me with the mixing and mastering I've done to it.

Edit: I've mastered it differently in this one:

ok this is so short its hard to tell but from what youve gott recorded here it sounds good, are the drums real or are they loops or midi? the guitar tone is great. thats a very good audio card from what i have read about it no one on here seems to have one so i dont know much about them but ive read some reviews and they say they are top notch, record somthing about 3 mins in length and give it another post and well rip into it for you. if you can get a free site at nowhere radio www.nowhereradio.com and then some of us can stream it and you will get more listens this way. theres alot of knowledge here on this board and these guys can and will help you as well as myself. its a good first effort just to short to work with. thanks for sharing the flash.

Here's a new longer version thats been mastered a little differently:

Needs more work...

Good guitar tone, but overall as a mix - there are issues:

No mids... overly bright, edgy and harsh.... poorly-defined low-end...

Sounds like you went a bit nuts with EQ... if you're using that much, then this points to a problem with your monitoring system.

Heh, I actually have no "monitoring system" to speak of, just using very crappy speakers to mix and master. I've overwritten the file with anoter master with less high end.

If I bring out the low end anymore, It sounds muddy and bad, but it could just be my speakers.
