Trying to figure out a certain effect

Heya. I have a song and I want it to cut out in a certain way, kinda like a tape reel broke or something. It's hard to explain, but you can kinda hear it on this song at about 32 seconds in... Lyrics :. Metallica - I Disappear - YouTube. I'd like it to be more pronounced though... anyone have any idea how to pull this off?

Just sounds like a fast fade-out, but not even on each track. Possibly a little EQ automation, too.

To add to what mjbphotos said, the guitars could be sliding down right before the pause as well.
