Rock Steady
I did a short tune today using one episode of LSP and routed 3 tracks thru it. Never done it before, but its a pretty easy deal now, but I think I`ll be using individual episodes for each track I want to do, to have a better handle on the mixing, cause when it goes to audio you can`t fix much. I`ll get good at this in time I hope. I appreciate the advice I got on using Live Synth Pro. I`ll send yall something a little more tasteful on the next post.

it sounds like a fine job in terms of mixing........all the levels seem to be fine and everythings pretty clear........overall, i'd say nice job, i don't know what to suggest..........maybe a wailing guitar solo over the whole thing for us guitar boys........

thanks man, its a ruff mix not tight final burn, just there to get the idea down. You are right about the guitar, there`s a big hole for my brutha up in hotlanta. We are 200 miles apart and starting to work on some stuff, so I leave the hole for guitar and he leaves hole for bass.

I went back and cleaned up the parts a little bit. I had recorded it fast trying to get the theme down. I`ll think I`ll keep this tune and do the real deal on it later on with a guitar/key player.

Wow! Man i love where this is going! You got lyrics and stuff for this yet? Hell i'm gonna write some anyway!! Be damn sure to get this back up when you get it done...yeah this is sounding great!! Is that a live kit? I got goose bumps from the key's:D , man this is good!

sounds good, except I thought the snare drum was a bit too loud.. maybe it will be good once vocals and/or solos are laid.. great start..

Hey!

This sounds great! The feeling's right.... Mmmmm, what a groove!

Just one little detail, though... the first fill-in sounded litt off-tempo. I felt it didn't do the song any good, but the rest is great!

yep, hehehe, its really completely out of meter, and it`s gonna be replaced, but I was in a hurry and just grabbed a canned fill for that one measure. Most of that piece is virtual synths, after you squared me away on LSP. Thanks for the help.
As always, I appreciate the salt as much as the sugar..

whole thing is in scratchpad mode, no guitar yet or vocals, horns to come later, Drums will be remixed and a couple of parts replaced. Thanks dude, I heard what you heard too :)

glad you enjoyed it David. Thats all I do it for, to share.
This type of feel is not a rage for a lot of folks. I`m not a keyboard player, as you can tell. But I try to get the message across as best I can.

listening to this now... kinda has the old Foreigner 4 feel to it (piano, etc)... cool... the mix is very clear and sweet... sounds like maybe some drum level issues, but not bad at all... drum samples? They don't sound too bad. Sounds like a song in need of vocals :) Bass may overpower in a few places... but it's borderline there.

Very cool feel! BTW thanks for the response in my thread... sorry I missed ya in there :(

some nice minor blues...but with some drum timing problems in places.

I appreciate it guys. as you can tell I'm not a piano picker, just enough to get a theme down for somebody that can. The keys are all virtual synths thru a soundblaster Live card. This was the first time I`ve used drum clips, those are from Linn ( I want some Gold Drums), some cymbal, hat, and snare are virtual that I tried to mix in, a little sloppy timing. I think I understand the method now a little better. I quantized a ride cymbal at 32 trplt against the main line in the wav clips, almost :) . Didnt turn on the monitors, just mixed in a cheap set of labtec 'puter speakers. Whole thing is a lab experiment so I don`t mind any jabs at all, I welcome them. 'Learning a little more about how to use Sonar every time thanks to you guys, and Cakewalk. I`ll be honest and sincere on any comments I make about your stuff as well.

If lookin past the pickin skill, and the themes turn you on, it`s success here for me. :)
