This was recorded on a digital fourtrack. The Balence is pants coz I had to keep bouncing the tracks down. But I would be greatful for any feedback. On the production and songwriting etc

Thanks
Andy......

The mp3 is of a very low bitrate, so I can't really comment on the production. I like the song though. Are you a somewhat experienced songwriter? You sound like it.

I'm fairly new to this forum, but one thing that I don't see addressed very often here is the arrangement of the song. That's the strongest point about this piece in my opinion. I like the wah guitar in conjunction with the acoustic. I personally would like to hear more percussion though. My brother is a drummer and I think he would have a lot to say about that! Do you have access to a good drummer? I'm thinking something along the lines a soft shuffle like in "Chuck E's in Love" by Rickie Lee Jones.

As far as the execution goes, the vocals are a bit off pitch, but it's hard to do them perfectly when you don't have multiple tracks to experiment around with. I completely understand your troubles with submixing on a 4-track, since I'm in a similar situation. The lead guitar could also be better. It wanders a little aimlessly in the ending solo. Try to focus more on the main melody that you're playing and try to nail it sweetly on time. Sorry, but I teach guitar, so I'm always picky about that. Thanks for posting the song, I enjoyed listening to it.

Cheers,
Jonathan.

Thanks, for the constructive feedback. Yeah, drums would be good. Kinda difficult really at the moment tho. :(

With regards to songwriting, I really only started recently writing, so its great to have some encouragement.
