Ok fellas, i've run into a few problems. I have a delta 1010lt and a mixer. I am now using Fl Studio Producer Edition. I plan on moving to more professional things like cubase, but I just cant afford it right now with college and all, and no means am i going to pirate it.
I have everything set up on my mixer, my speakers, midi heyboard, mic, blah blah blah. Though in FL studio, to record audio, you do it in FL studios mixer. It said, to record, in the general audio, I have to make my output ASIO. I did that, so far so good. Then in the mixer, in the master fx track, I made the output "analog 7&8". I can hear music with that output through my stereo, so far so good. Then I go into another FX track to do my vocals. In the ouput i put "master", and for the input I put "Analog 1 & 2 (these are the xlr cables that go into m mixer, then from there i record my mic to it). Though when I make my input to that, a loud screaching and static comes on. Any ideas whats up?

Do you have your mic set up in the same room as your monitors? If so, this is probably feedback (just like you sometimes hear at live shows). This is easily solved by using headphones instead of monitors when tracking with a mic.

lol no, sadly its not the feedback, even when usuing headphones, same problem

I just found a very interesting factor. I took out the xlr cables on my mixer, and hooked the mic in straight to one of the xlr cable and it works. hmmm. so when i go form the mixer the loud screeching happens. any ideas?

One other thing I found, is if I take the red and white chords off my mixer (essentially the output), I can record fine, without any sound playback, just when i do them at the same time the loud screaching sound happens

Keep in mind that feedback loops can happen electrically as well as acoustically from monitor to mic. Make sure you understand your signal path, both outside and inside the computer.

Hmm, it seems all good. I took my monitors off etc. Lol, for some reason I feel the problem is sooo basic I cant even see it lol.

Turning your monitors off wouldn't address RobD's suggestion - turning off some "monitoring" options in the software might, though...

Sounds like you are having a feedback issue. Make sure that the record in is not playing back to the mixer

Right. Ive tried many things in the software and stuff but still no luck. Keep in mind that when i take off the xlr form the mixer, and hook my mic straight to it, it then works (it records, and plays the music to mixer and out my speakers). So wouldnt most likely it be some issue with the mixer?

Maybe, what kind of mixer is it? I assume that the phantom power is off..

It sounds like you might have signal feeding back to the mic channel

*edit*

Now that I think about it, I'll bet it is that.

Here is what you need to check:

1. Mic is on its own record bus (going to the card)
2. What exactly are you routing from on the mixer (mains? monitor? record?)
3. What are you actually pluging the return from your DAW into (which bus)
4. How many busses are on your mixer and how each channel is routed

The mic has to be on its own record buss into the sound card and the output from the app cannot be mixed back into the same bus. It really sounds like your are feeding back the monitor signal into record bus. The fact that pluging the mic into the sound card fixes it means that its in your mixer somewhere

Make sure you post your mixer model
