Trouble using a MOTU 896 on a PC

I found MOTU 896 at a pawn shop for a steal… Now, (unfortunately) I’m trying to use it on a Gateway laptop with Windows XP -- mixing on Adobe Audition.

My firewire card seems to work fine - the sound I'm recording is great, but at this time I can only record on to the computer from 2 channels at a time. It seems that the “MOTU Audio Console” program only lets me select 2 tracks for input – it’s like there are no options to open it up to listen to more inputs.

I'd like to be able to use all 8 inputs – I don’t know if the CueMix feature works with the 896? The CueMix program has installed but it won’t open on this PC. I've tried to re-install but it didn't help.

As I'm sure you can see -- I'm new to all of this -- maybe this is something very simple that I'm missing?

Thanks!

512, 16-bit

The “FW Audio Console” says my sample rate per buffer is 512..... I'm recording in 16-bit right now...

Could this effect how many channels I can record off of from the MOTU?

Sampling rate as in 44.1khz,48khz etc in your hardware mixer.

Not sure about the Motu but some soudncards when using 48,98khz sampling rate give you less inputs because of the increased info.

Oh yea, thanks.... duh..

I've been using 44.1...

but I'll double check..
