Hey guys sorry if this gets lengthly but i am confused

i need to hook up my studio and am slightly confused.

Have a digidesign 003 rack with an iMac and a soundcraft ghost desk but what i am struggling with is the patchbay

I have a Behringer patchbay with a behringer compressor/gate, a lexicon multi FX unit and an API Audio pre amp and i need this all connected

i know the FX unit needs to come off the desk aux 1 and 2 outs but thats it really. I think the patchbay first 16 channels are the inserts on the desk but am unsure if they go into the ins or outs on the patchbay (think its both maybe?)

Thanks alot for your help

Luke

Simple, plug the outs from the desk into the 003 - route the lexicon from the fx or aux send / return from your ghost. If you are not familliar with the compressor / gate leave it until you have a need for it. Route the pre amp direct into the desk or one of the channels on the 003.
Voila! no repatching required!

Oh, nearly forgot put the patchbay in the bin... seriously unless you need one you don't need one... ( no offence intended, IMO, IME. OBE, KGB)

Outputs go to Inputs.

Top row are outputs, bottom row are the inputs....usually.

Inserts are tricky, as the send/return needs to be normalled at the bay so it passes signal when nothing is inserted.

Just visualize the signal flow of each device. Get a piece of paper and pencil, and then lay out in a manner that makes sense to you.

I think i get it the only thing is the insert from the desk is a stero to two mono jacks, stero in the insert on the esk then one into input and one into output on patchbay? I want to get it all hooked up now so when i come to addmore outboard then its all done and should be easier to expand on things

Stereo to two Mono --- one is the send and the other is the return.

Connect the Send to a top-row jack on your bay...and the return to the bottom.
When you are not inserting any device between the Send and Return jacks...if those points are not normalled, just connect a patch cable from the top to bottom jacks (same thing as normalled)...that way your signal can keep flowing when there is no device there.

Thanks alot miroslav that is perfect, has helped me hugely
