ok......... so here's what's up........

Ive been examining the keyboard market as of late and seeing exactly what i could get for under a grand. Ive heard some stuff posted using the xp 30, and was impressed with that. .......anyhow, i went down to my local Sam Ash today to fart around for myself. mistake. I talked to a rather kind salesman that twisted me around and tried to talk me into spending alot more than i wanted to. ....Im not complaining mind you. He was right...... he took me over to the Korg racks and demonstrated what they are capable of...........
........Fuck
........Im just a dumb ole bass player. ......not well versed at all in keyboards or their technology. He explained that the Triton LE (approx 1200 bones) would be a much better product if i could swing it monetarily. He said that the only difference between the LE and the standard Triton was the sampler, the touch-screen, and the expansion card expandability. He also noted that i could install a 16 bit sampler into the LE for around 200 bucks, and except for the touch screen.....essentially have a standard Triton.
What i need to know is .......IS THIS TRUE? .....and if so... is it worth it, or should a guy just shell out the additional 500 bucks for the real thing..............

(boy is my wife gonna be pissed:mad: ,,,,,,,:( ,,,,,,,,, :p :D

any hands on experience info would be greatly appreciated.

Hey G....

Yeah... go for the Triton! Very versitle board. I put my Triton Pro on Ebay so I can upgrade to the Triton Pro Studio. I like the digital and SCSI interfaces on the studio... and their are some really cool sounds on the new board too :) Id cut ya a deal on my board .... but It might be a little out of your range

***The Triton Le is basically a Triton, without the ability to add expansion cards. Other differences are: no ribbon controller, sampling is an add on option (albeit cheap: $200.), and only one insert effect instead of 5 like its big brother. The smallest difference, but may be big to others, is they left off the touch screen, which personally, I prefer. I don't like touch screens, and the layout of this unit is very easy to get around on, especially if you're familiar with Korgs from the T series on. ***

Hey J,
thanks for the info. Im a keyboard dummy man, so you have to talk slow:D . What exactly do you mean "only one insert effect" ? Does that mean that you can only use one effect per patch? .......sorry for the dumb question. Yea, ..as much as i would love to take you up on your triton, that kinda dough is outta my league. It's gonna be a fight gettin the lil' lady to OK a $1200 purchase....... If i spend 2 grand, i might as well sleep in the truck:D

I quoted the differences line from a web site... he mentions he doesnt like the touch screen... I strongly disagree with him :)

the insert affects is an internal routable effects chain. you can add say 5 different effects... like reverb, delay, compression.... etc. ... to your signal you put into the keyboard or a sound in a program on the board.... I run my acoustic into it and use a couple effects. it looks like the Le allows one. hmmm..

:) I put the female in my life on the backburner... Im sure I wouldnt have as many toys with a feline. yeh.. it can be lonely once in awhile, but it would also be lonely without my goodies :)

MMmmmmmmm.......
.......one effect. That's kind of a bummer. Funny..... the salesman didnt mention that:p

Yea, the chics can be a bummer sometimes..... they just dont understand:D Im not complaining too much though......... She's cool. You see, when you get married, everything becomes tit for tat (no pun intended).
Ive just gotta wait til she see's that $1500.00 "chic-thing" that she desparately needs.......... then Ive got her. ......and knowing my wife, it wont be too long. :D

Hey Chriss,,,,
Actually I have considered the Motif. Ive read some really great reviews on it in here...... ......seems to be a winner. I guess Im looking for the bang for the buck factor. I think I saw the 61 key version at MF for around 1600.00. Thats a little cheaper than what Sam Ash wanted for the Triton. .....Im looking and learning at the moment. .......and working the wife:D Do you have a motif? .....and if so, can you compare it to the Triton?

Thanks for the response, G

arch... this have been up so many times... try and do a search about it, cause i'm off for work and i've said the same things so many times :)
