Trigger and XP-50 question

I currently own a Roland XP-50 keyboard. I am planning to record my band soon, and I like one of the bass drums sounds from one of the rhythm sets. I was wondering if there is any way that I can use a trigger pad on my drummer's bass drum and have it trigger the bass drum sound from the XP-50. If this is possible, please list everything I need to do and get to get this sound. Thank you for your help.

You would need to buy a device that translates audio signals to MIDI signals. The most inexpensive way might be to buy a used Alesis D4 (try ebay.com). Musician's Friend has some triggers called "Red Hots" that run for less than $10 each that you can mount on your accoustic set.
