Tried to mask bad vocals with effects, how'd I do?

I finished recording this song (a cover of Zeke- Kings and Queens) before I bothered to check if it was in my vocal range. Dropping the vocals an octave sounded worse, so I gave it a shot while using some basic effects to try mask the flaws. Might have helped a little.

Given that it's a heavy rock song, maybe the vocal sort of works or isn't as glaring as I think it is. I'd appreciate it if anyone would give it a listen and tell me if they think it sucks and ruins the song, if it doesn't, etc. If you want to point out any other flaws with the sound, that'd also be nice of you. Thanks.

I think you did a pretty good job. There were some basic pitch problems along the way but I think the effect you put on fit with the song. How'd you get that effect?

My mixer has a few very basic effects, none of which are that great, but what are you gonna do. I used the amp effect, which simulates guitar amp sounds. I used that to put some gain on it. I put a chorus effect on it, too, but the amp effect kind of dominates it and it didn't make much difference.
