Tricky Little Ad

That's one of those things that sucks about the internet... It really seems unfair somehow that someone else can take advantage of a typo like that...

As a rahter por tpiyst myslef, I've found dozens of them mixed in among popular sites. Many of them just go to those irritating "search" type sites (that aren't really search engines, but I think get click-through $$).

Just checked - Google was smart enough to get "gogle" also...

Well, you just need to be bothered to do the work that gets those searches there, I imagine. I don't know that it's really unfair. It's all about using the system to your advantage with the internet these days. It's the new wild west, IMO.

And I'm sure it has an effect, just like any ad does. Why just today I was leafing through the new issue of TapeOp, and came across both your ad and Farview's. And damned if I didn't give those ads more preferential treatment. ;)
 
I used to have to be so careful when I was on fanfiction.net (don't laugh!), because fanfictoin.net was a porn site, and I usually checked on stuff while I was in the library....

I suppose "unfair" should be reseved for certain things, but that falls into it...

I mean, if I had gaetwaymastering.com or digitladomain.com or something pointing at *my* site, I think Bob L. and Bob K. would consider that "unfair" to some extent... If they went to a site that sold recording equipment, I suppose that fall into "taking advantage of the system."

In this case (homewrecker.com or whatever it was) at least it isn't another forum that deals with the same things this place does (I don't *think* it was, anyway).
